RANGERS F.C.S.A. - LONDON BRANCH

Football Team

The Rangers FC Supporters Association -London Branch football team play in the APFSCIL (Association of Provincial Football Supporters' Clubs in London) Football League which is part of the London Football Association.

Brief History

The APFSCIL Football League was formed back in 17 April 1980. The London Branch joined the League in its second season. We are pleased to say that since joining we have always been among the leading clubs winning the League and Cup on a number of occasions. Older members will remember when Celtic were in APFSCIL and played in this League. It should be no surprise that our matches were hard fought and often well attended for games at this level. Our current team manager  Charlie Logan played in our first season in the League and for many years after that. For a number of seasons we had two teams playing in the top division proving how popular it was with members and also that we had more than one or two good players among our membership!

We have only one team playing in the League currently but the London Branch continues to consistantly be among the best sides. The last few seasons we have been so near to being League Champions. During the six seasons between 2000-01 and 2005-06 we were runners up no fewer than five times! In season 2001-02 it was particularly close with Hibs only beating us on goal difference. In 2005-06 we were runners up in both the League and Cup. In season 2006-07 we ended up fifth. Up until 2007-08 we only had our Cup Win of 2000-01 to celebrate since 2000. Many teams would let their heads drop after so many near things but they are not Rangers! Two seasons ago we won the APFSCIL Football League with a record of played 18 won 13 drawn 2 lose 3 goals for 67 goals against 36 points 41. There were a number of changes from  the League Championship winning side and last season we finished a disappointing seventh. Better things are expected in the new season and unlike the team we support we are looking for new players!!

All matches are played on Sundays with 2pm the normal kick off time. The London Branch play all their home matches at Fullers Sports Ground, Riverside Drive, Chiswick, London W4. Most away matches (but not all!) are played at Civil Service Sports Ground with the entrance just round the corner from Riverside Drive in The Promenade. The players are always pleased when they get good support at matches.
