RANGERS F.C.S.A. - LONDON BRANCH

About Us

The above photo shows Rangers captain Eric Caldow (in the striped shirt) exchanging pennants with Fiorentina captain Alberto Orzan in the European Cup Winners Cup Final in 1961.

The Rangers FC Supporters Association London Branch was formed in the same year.

That year was an eventful one for the Gers. They were Scottish League Champions and reached their first European final v Fiorentina in the European

 Cup Winners Cup.

Rangers also created a record attendance for a friendly club match in Britain, which still stands to this day. An amazing 104,679 saw them play against Eintracht Frankfurt at Hampden Park. It’s not recorded how many London Branch members attended the match!

John Greig made his first team debut in September 1961.

Since our foundation countless miles have been travelled in organised club trips for Rangers matches all over Britain and Europe. Our club is very proud that regular travel continued in the bad times as well as the good. We had match tickets allocated for nearly every domestic match home and away including the Old Firm games last season. The only exceptions were away matches against those clubs that handled the Rangers supporters tickets themselves. Even in these cases we got tickets for those members who required them.  The London Branch is also able to obtain tickets for all Rangers big European matches at Ibrox. Rangers’ away matches in European competition are distributed exclusively to members of Rangers Travel Club. We also have seven season ticket books for members’ use.

Our club is a member of APFSCIL (the Association of Provincial Football Supporters Clubs in London) and our team play in their football league. We have won the league on a number of occasions with season 2007-08 the last time we were League Champions. We have over the years had darts, pool

and football quiz teams playing in various leagues.

Some Rangers stars from the year of our formation. Left to right Ian McMillan, John Greig, Ronnie McKinnon, Jim Baxter, Ralph Brand and Willie Henderson.

The London Branch has had many socials with other Rangers Supporters Clubs and formed close ties. Many former Rangers players have attended our club functions. These include Ally McCoist, Derek Johnstone, Andy Goram, Mark Hateley, Derek Ferguson, Willie Henderson and Dave Provan.

Our members age from youngsters to up to those whose first Rangers matches they attended was when Bill Struth was manager. We consider ourselves a Rangers family but also look to extend it with new members.

The London Branch has shares in the “Cock Tavern” pub in Smithfield, central London. Along with individual Rangers supporters our club bought it with the idea of creating a “Rangers only” venue in London where supporters could watch Rangers live TV matches. This has been achieved. It’s not as good as being at the match but it’s the next best thing. The atmosphere is great.

We have lots of other ambitious ideas but some will only be achieved with more members and greater funds. The London Branch welcomes all Rangers supporters and encourages fresh ideas.
